My friend Jaime (a friend from high school) invited us to her son, Landon's 1st birthday party! We wouldn't have missed it for anything! Howie was out of town so Makenna and I packed up and went to their house. Their house is awesome! They have a GIANT backyard... lots of room to roam and play. Not only that, they had a kiddie pool set up. Unfortunately, Makenna wouldn't have anything to do with the pool. :( She loves tubby time so I didn't understand... Oh well. She did discover their sandbox. It was so much fun to watch her feel the sand for the first time. I'm so glad I documented the whole thing.
"What's over there, Mommy?"
This picture was about 5 minutes later... she picked up the shovel and had at it!!
"This stuff is weird!"
"Maybe if I sit down, I'll understand this substance a little better... "
She figured out that she couldn't really play with the sand unless she was semi-standing. :)
She had to brush the sand off... What a professional. 
But... she's not quite finished playing yet..... 
I loved watching her play with the sand... She's definitely going to be a "beach baby" which is good considering we camp at the beach 90% of the time. I'm thinking that we should buy a sandbox for her... she would love it.
