Every year we take a family trip to celebrate Oldpa, Jeanie and my birthdays. 2010 we went to Lake Tahoe, 2009 we went to Crescent City, CA.. 2011 was the year for Bend! Jeanie found this awesome house for rent and it couldn't have been more perfect. Dale was able to ride his mountain bike, Oldpa was able to go golfing and we all had a fabulous time together. The best part of the whole trip and the main reason we picked Bend to begin with, was so Oldpa could go rockhounding with all of his grandkids. It has been on his bucket list for many years and we were able to scratch it off!
The pictures are taken over the course of 3-4 days. Enjoy!
Shortly after we got there.. the weather so nice the entire week we were there! It was popcicle and frozen yogurt time all day long!
On our way to Richarson's Rock Ranch in Madras, OR- I love those boys.
Oldpa and all of his grandkids.
I think that on this day the temperature was over 90 degrees. It's only dry heat? Right??
After Richardson's, we headed east past Prineville up to the Ochoco National Forest to dig rocks for free. Now we aren't digging just rocks... These ones had a specific name and I can't remember for the life of me what they are called. Limstone? I'll have to ask the professional.. Oldpa. :)
Miss Belle either enjoying herself or being miserable because of the heat. Hard to tell, huh?
Our Princess with a rock hammer. She loves rocks!
All the kids "looking" for rocks.
The park that is located a few blocks from the house we stayed at has a sweet boat to play on! Makenna still talks about it to this day. Her memory is that of an elephant. Not kidding in the slightest!
The worst part about not updating this on a regular basis is that you forget where you go.. This day Dale, Jeanie, Oldma, Gage, Ashton, Kenna and I all went on a roadtrip. This place we stopped at was absolutely beautiful! Lava rock everywhere, view of the mountains and even a Rapunzel tower!
Mr. Ashton was not thrilled to be sitting up there!
Quick stop at Suttle Lake to play in the water before we headed back to the house.
I want to say that this was one of the last days we were there. We headed West so Dale could go for a bike ride at Waldo Lake and the lake turned out to be infested with mosquitos. I had never seen anything like it!! They swarmed you the minute we got out of the car.. It was gross. So we headed to Wickiup (I think) Reservoir. No mosquitos, no wind and lots of sunshine. It was a wonderful day!
She's got the "brrrrs". That's what she calls them. Love her.
Oldpa and Makenna- She wasn't sleeping.. Just copying him. ;)
It was such a wonderful, relaxing trip that we've all decided that Bend is going to be our 2012 destination! Stay tuned in 2013 for photos of that trip! HAHA! Just kidding.
Love,
Us
